Abstract
The tourism sector in Banyuwangi Regency has experienced significant growth, particularly in the Bangsring Beach marine tourism area, which is well known for its marine conservation activities through Bangsring Underwater. However, the increasing number of visitors has not been accompanied by the availability of high-standard accommodation capable of meeting the needs of both domestic and international tourists, especially those in the upper-middle market segment. This condition serves as the basis for designing a Modern Tropical Resort Hotel in the Bangsring Beach area as a tourist accommodation facility integrated with the natural potential of the coastal environment. The proposed resort hotel aims to provide comfortable four-star accommodation that is responsive to the humid tropical climate while supporting the development of local tourism. The modern tropical architectural approach is implemented through the optimization of passive design strategies, including proper building orientation in relation to the sun and prevailing winds, natural cross-ventilation, daylight utilization, shading elements, and the use of coastal vegetation to improve the site's microclimate. The design adopts a contextual approach by considering the site's physical conditions, climatic characteristics, and the unique context of the Bangsring coastal area. The resort hotel is expected to serve not only as a high-quality accommodation facility but also as a landmark of marine tourism that contributes to enhancing visitors' experiences, promoting environmental conservation, and supporting the local economy of Banyuwangi Regency. Keywords: Resort Hotel, Modern Tropical Architecture, Marine Tourism, Bangsring Beach, Banyuwangi.
