Abstract
The increasing use of online games among children, particularly Roblox has raised concerns regarding its potential negative impacts, such as addiction, decreased learning concentration, and changes in social behavior. This study aims to describe the communication patterns employed by mothers who actively play Roblox to prevent its negative effects on their children. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, literature review, and documentation. The study applies Rational Dialectics Theory, which includes reason-giving, two-way dialogue, and negotiation and agreement, as the analytical framework. The findings indicate that mothers implement persuasive, educational, empathetic, and assertive communication patterns through logical explanations, two-way discussions, and agreements regarding Roblox usage. In addition, mothers provide supervision, digital safety education, and guidance to balance gaming, learning, and social activities. The study concludes that open and agreement-based communication can help minimize the negative impacts of Roblox on children.
