Abstract

Eggshells are a common household waste that is often discarded despite their high calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) content, making them a potential alternative raw material for calcium chloride (CaCl₂) production. This study investigated the synthesis of calcium chloride from chicken eggshells using hydrochloric acid (HCl). The results showed that calcium chloride was successfully synthesized, and the product exhibited characteristics comparable to those of commercial calcium chloride. Furthermore, the concentration of hydrochloric acid and the amount of eggshell significantly influenced the calcium chloride yield. Increasing both parameters generally resulted in a higher calcium chloride content, indicating that appropriate reaction conditions play an important role in optimizing the synthesis process.
