Abstract

Income inequality remains a major development issue in the Tapal Kuda region of East Java, as reflected by fluctuations in the Gini Ratio during the 2016–2025 period. This study aims to analyze and compare the effects of economic growth, female labor force participation, and education on income inequality in regions with high, medium, and low levels of inequality, represented by Lumajang Regency, Bondowoso Regency, and Probolinggo City. This research employs a quantitative approach using secondary time-series data from 2016–2025 obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of East Java Province and the respective regencies/city. The variables include the Gini Ratio, economic growth proxied by Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Female Labor Force Participation Rate (FLFPR), and Mean Years of Schooling (MYS). The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression across three research models. The results indicate that the effects of economic growth, female labor force participation, and education vary across the three models, reflecting differences in the characteristics of income inequality and stages of economic transformation in each region. Keywords: Income Inequality, Economic Growth, Female Labor Force Participation, Education, Tapal Kuda Region.
