Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the number of foreign tourists, hotel room occupancy rates, average length of stay, and Regional Original Revenue (PAD) on economic growth in North Sumatra Province during the period 2015-2024. This research used a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis. The data used in this study were time series data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Sumatra Province and the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK) of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. The results of the study indicate that partially, the number of foreign tourists, hotel room occupancy rates, average length of stay, and Regional Original Revenue (PAD) have a positive and significant effect on economic growth in North Sumatra Province. Simultaneously, all independent variables have a significant effect on economic growth with a Prob(F-statistic) value of 0.002976. The Adjusted R-Squared value of 0.891676 indicates that the independent variables are able to explain economic growth by 89.16 percent, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors outside the study. The implication of this study shows that the tourism sector and Regional Original Revenue have an important role in encouraging regional economic growth. Therefore, local governments are expected to improve tourism sector development and optimize Regional Original Revenue to support sustainable economic growth.
