Abstract

Bird's eye chili (Capsicum frutescens L.) is a horticultural crop characterized by its small size and pungent flavor. One effort to increase bird's eye chili production is improving cultivation systems, such as optimizing plant spacing and applying NPK fertilizer according to the crop's requirements. This study aimed to determine the effects of plant spacing and NPK 16-16-16 fertilizer dosage on the growth and yield of cayenne pepper. The research method utilized a two-factor Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The first factor was plant spacing, consisting of three levels: 40 x 70 cm, 50 x 70 cm and 60 x 70 cm The second factor was the NPK (16-16-16) fertilizer dosage, comprising four levels: 500 kg/ha, 700 kg/ha, 900 kg/ha, 1.100 kg/ha. The results showed that the combination of 60 x 70 cm plant spacing with an NPK (16-16-16) dosage of 500 kg/ha significantly affected the total number of flowers, total number of harvested fruits per plant, total weight of harvested fruits per plant, and fruit set. However, the single factors of plant spacing and NPK (16-16-16) dosage did not significantly affect any of the observed parameters.
