Abstract

Spodoptera frugiperda is one of the major pests of maize that can reduce crop productivity. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of liquid and Water Dispersible Granule (WDG) formulations of soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata), determine the effect of storage duration on their effectiveness, and identify the bioactive compounds present in the extract. The study employed a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors, namely insecticide formulation and storage duration. The results showed that the liquid formulation was more effective than the WDG formulation in suppressing feeding activity and increasing larval mortality of S. frugiperda. In addition, longer storage duration tended to reduce insecticidal effectiveness. GC-MS analysis identified phytol, methyl linolenate, and caryophyllene as bioactive compounds with potential antifeedant and insecticidal activities.
