Abstract
The city of Surabaya, as one of Indonesia's educational centers, experiences significant growth in the number of students every year. This condition drives an increasing need for student housing that is decent, affordable, and capable of supporting the academic activities and social life of its residents. Student dormitories are no longer understood merely as places to live, but as living environments that play a role in shaping behavioral patterns, interactions, and the quality of life of students. This Final Project Proposal presents the design of a Student Dormitory with an Architectural Approach in the City of Surabaya, focusing on the provision of residential spaces that can accommodate the basic needs of students while forming an environment that supports the learning process, collaboration, and personal development. The architectural approach used emphasizes the relationship between space and the behavior of its occupants, where spatial design is expected to influence the way students engage in activities, interact, and build more structured and productive living habits. The design method is carried out through site context analysis, a study of student needs and behavior, as well as the application of architectural principles that are responsive to the climate, environment, and urban character of Surabaya. The expected outcome of this design is a student dormitory that not only fulfills functional and technical aspects, but also creates a residential environment that is comfortable, adaptive, and supportive of the academic and social growth of its residents. Keywords: student dormitory, student housing, behavioral architecture, City of Surabaya
