Abstract
This study aims to analyze the base and non-base sectors as well as the economic competitiveness in Magetan during 2015–2024 using secondary data obtained from Badan Pusat Statistik from 2015 to 2024. The methods used in this research are Location Quotient, Dynamic Location Quotient, Shift Share, Dynamic Shift Share Analysis, and Klassen Typology. The data used consist of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Magetan and East Java at constant prices by business sector. The results of the study indicate that there are eight base sectors in Magetan. The agricultural sector is the leading sector, while the Information and Communication sector has experienced the fastest growth along with the development of digital technology. The results of the Shift Share and Dynamic Shift Share Analysis show that several sectors have good growth and competitiveness compared to the provincial level of East Java, particularly the Information and Communication sector, Education Services sector, and Other Services sector. Meanwhile, the Klassen Typology analysis indicates that the economic structure of Magetan consists of advanced, developing, and relatively underdeveloped sectors. Overall, the base sectors play an important role in encouraging economic growth and regional development in Magetan
