Abstract
Based on observations and field explanations during the internship practice at PT PG. Candi Baru, several conclusions can be drawn regarding the sugar production process and supporting equipment. The main product of PT PG. Candi Baru is SHS (Superium Hoofd Suiker) sugar, with a milling capacity of 3,000 tons of sugarcane per day. The by-products produced include bagasse, filter cake (blotong), and molasses. The sugar production process consists of eight stages: preparation, milling, boiling, purification, evaporation, crystallization, separation, and drying. Additionally, there are seven main stations in the plant: milling station, boiler station, purification station, evaporation station, cooking and cooling station, centrifugal station, and finishing station. Several recommendations are proposed to improve plant performance, including: (1) enhancement of occupational health and safety (OHS) measures, particularly worker discipline and awareness regarding the consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent workplace accidents; and (2) replacement of pumps in the evaporation and purification stations, as the currently used pumps are oversized, thereby limiting the efficiency of wastewater transportation to the wastewater treatment plant
