Abstract
The role of the industrial sector in driving economic growth is undeniable, but it also brings complex environmental challenges. As an industrial estate operating in Surabaya, PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (SIER) bears a significant responsibility to comply with applicable environmental regulations. This practical work aims to analyze PT SIER's compliance with environmental regulations, identify areas of compliance and areas requiring further attention, and formulate recommendations to improve the company's environmental performance. The study was conducted at the Environment Agency of East Java Province (DLH Provinsi Jawa Timur).The analysis involved reviewing the Indirect Supervision (Pengawasan Tidak Langsung) reports for Semester I 2022, Semester II 2022, and Semester I 2023.The evaluation results indicate that PT SIER has generally demonstrated a good level of compliance with the applicable environmental regulations, aligning with their Environmental License and Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (RKL-RPL). Nevertheless, minor non-compliances were identified during the supervision. These included the failure to state the number of tenants in both semesters of 2022 and the omission of the Technical Details for Temporary Hazardous Waste (B3) Storage copy in the Semester I 2023 report.To further elevate its environmental management quality, it is recommended that PT SIER implement international standards such as ISO 14000 and 14001.By applying these international standards, the company can enhance its national performance rating (PROPER) to potentially achieve the Gold PROPER award.
