Abstract

Flooding is a recurrent hydrometeorological disaster in Sidoarjo Regency, causing significant social and economic impacts. The relatively flat topography, proximity to the Brantas River system, and rapid urban development increase flood potential during the rainy season. This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution of flood occurrences, examine the physical characteristics of affected areas, evaluate flood events in 2024 using descriptive statistics (frequency, duration, and depth), and identify spatial clustering patterns using the Getis–Ord Gi* method with Fixed distance band and Inverse distance square approaches. Flood vulnerability mapping was conducted using a weighted overlay technique incorporating land use, slope, distance from rivers, rainfall, and soil type. Hotspot analysis was performed to generate Gizscore and p-value values indicating statistically significant clusters. The results show that high flood vulnerability zones are concentrated in densely populated settlements with flat terrain and close proximity to rivers. Descriptive analysis indicates variations in flood characteristics among districts. The Getis–Ord Gi* results confirm the presence of statistically significant hotspot and coldspot clusters, indicating that flood occurrences exhibit spatial structure rather than random distribution. This study provides a spatial basis for flood mitigation planning in Sidoarjo Regency.
