Abstract
This study aims to analyze road pavement damage conditions on the Gayam–Sidorejo road section in Kediri Regency using the Surface Distress Index (SDI) method and to visualize the results through a Geographic Information System (GIS). The road section has a total length of 8.383 km and is divided into 9 segments of a 2/2 undivided two-lane road type. The methodology employed is quantitative descriptive through direct visual field surveys. The SDI assessment parameters include crack area, crack width, number of potholes, and rut depth. Data processing was conducted using Microsoft Excel, while thematic mapping was performed using ArcGIS software. Field survey results indicate that the types of damage found include alligator cracking, longitudinal cracking, edge cracking, block cracking, rutting, and potholes, with the number of damage points varying across segments (19 to 72 damage points per segment). Based on the SDI calculation per 500 m sub-segment, SDI values range from 10 to 45. The lowest SDI value of 10 was found in STA 2+000–2+500, which recorded no significant damage, while the highest SDI value of 45 was found in STA 1+000–1+500, STA 1+500–2+000, STA 5+000–5+500, STA 6+000–6+500, STA 7+500–8+000, and STA 8+000–8+383. All 9 segments of the Gayam–Sidorejo road section fall into the "Good" condition category (SDI value < 50), and the recommended treatment program for the entire corridor is Routine Maintenance. The ArcGIS-based GIS implementation proved effective in transforming SDI tabular data into a spatial thematic map, facilitating the identification of road condition distribution and supporting technical decision-making in road maintenance planning in a more efficient and structured manner. Keyword: Road Pavement, Surface Distress Index (SDI), Geographic Information System (GIS), Road Damage, Routine Maintenance.
