Abstract

Limiting mint (Mentha arvensis) production in lowland areas, particularly urban regions, include limited cultivation land, high temperatures, intense sunlight, and relative humidity. The solution is to cultivate mint using vertical farming methods with shading and application of Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF). This research aims to determine the optimal concentration of rabbit urine LOF and shading level for the growth and yield of mint plants. This is a factorial study with two factors arranged in a Split-Plot Design (SPD). The main plot is the shading level, consisting of three treatment levels: 0%, 25%, and 50% shading. The subplots were rabbit urine LOF concentrations, consisting of four treatment levels: 0 ml/L, 50 ml/L, 100 ml/L, and 150 ml/L. The results showed no significant interaction between treatments however, 50% shading and 100 ml/L rabbit urine LOF individually produced the best growth and yield responses. Quadratic regression analysis indicated that the optimum rabbit urine LOF concentrations for maximum leaf area, fresh shoot weight, and menthol content were 87.54 ml/L, 89.75 ml/L, and 73.75 ml/L.
