Abstract
Fiscal decentralization grants local governments autonomy in managing their finances with the aim of boosting economic growth. This study aims to analyze the impact of the financial independence ratio, the effectiveness ratio, and the financial activity ratio of local governments on the economic development of districts and cities within the Bakorwil II region in East Java Province during the period from 2015 to 2024. This study utilizes secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and financial reports from local governments using panel regression analysis. The results indicate that the local financial autonomy ratio and the activity ratio have a positive impact on economic growth, while the effectiveness ratio tends to have a lower influence. These results confirm that an increase in local governments’ ability to collect local revenue and allocate expenditures for productive development projects contributes to accelerating economic growth in the region.
