Abstract
The increasing demand for energy and the limited availability of fossil fuel reserves encourage the development of alternative and environmentally friendly fuels. One potential alternative fuel is bioethanol, which can be blended with gasoline. This study aims to analyze the effect of load variations on the performance of a Honda GX200 engine using a mixture of bioethanol, pertalite, and citronella oil, as well as to determine the optimal fuel composition that produces the best engine performance. The research was conducted experimentally using a single-cylinder Honda GX200 gasoline engine with several fuel variations, including pure pertalite, pure bioethanol, and blends of pertalite, bioethanol, and citronella oil. The engine was operated at a constant speed with load variations of 150 W, 300 W, 450 W, 600 W, and 750 W. The observed parameters included engine power, torque, specific fuel consumption (SFC), and thermal efficiency. The results show that variations in fuel composition and loading affect engine performance. The PBA3 fuel blend consisting of 80% pertalite, 15% bioethanol, and 5% citronella oil produced the best performance with an increase in engine power of about 22% compared to pure pertalite. This indicates that the addition of bioethanol and citronella oil can improve the combustion quality in the engine.
