Abstract

The development of the online gaming industry has driven an increase in the use of the Roblox platform among Generation Z. To maintain the sustainability of gaming activities, interface design and user experience are important factors in shaping user satisfaction. However, it is not yet certain that these two factors directly drive the sustainability of gaming activities without satisfaction as an intermediary. This study aims to analyze the influence of interface design and user experience on the sustainability of gaming activities through user satisfaction as a mediating variable among Generation Z Roblox users in Surabaya. This study uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study is all Generation Z who actively play Roblox in Surabaya. The research sample was determined using purposive sampling techniques with 100 respondents. Data was collected through an online questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using Partial Least Square-based Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS). The results show that interface design and user experience have a positive and significant effect on user satisfaction. However, interface design and user experience have a positive but insignificant effect on the sustainability of gaming activities, while the user satisfaction variable has a positive and significant effect on the sustainability of gaming activities. The mediation test results show that interface design has,a,significant effect on the sustainability of gaming activities through user satisfaction, while user experience does not have a significant effect on the sustainability of gaming activities through user satisfaction. These results indicate that increasing user satisfaction through interface design quality is an important factor in encouraging the sustainability of gaming activities among Generation Z.
