Abstract

PT Herba Emas Wahidatama is a manufacturing company operating in the traditional medicine industry, with one of its products being Minyak Herba Sinergi. However, its production process has not yet operated optimally due to various types of waste that hinder the production process and the presence of product defects identified during the packaging stage. This study aims to identify the types of waste occurring in the production process, analyze the root causes of defects in the packaging process, and propose improvement recommendations to enhance production efficiency. The methods applied in this research are Lean Six Sigma with the DMAIC approach combined with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). The results indicate that the most dominant types of waste are defects, motion, and overprocessing. In the defect category, three primary defects were identified: label wrinkling, improper single-bottle sleeve wrapping, and perforated group bottle wrapping. These defects were further analyzed using fishbone diagram and FMEA which revealed that the highest risk occurs in improper single-bottle sleeve wrapping, with an RPN value of 294. The proposed improvements are able to eliminate non-value-added (NVA) activities and reduce necessary non-value-added (NNVA) activities. As a result, the production lead time decreased from 7.497,4 minutes to 5.982,4 minutes, while the Process Cycle Efficiency (PCE) increased from 43,64% to 54,69%.
