Abstract

Child trafficking is a serious human rights violation that involves cross-border trafficking and remains a major problem in Indonesia. This problem arises from various factors such as poverty, low levels of education, social inequality, and a weak child protection system. This situation worsened from 2020 to 2023 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, the role of international organizations is crucial in helping strengthen government measures in preventing and addressing child trafficking cases in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the role of UNICEF in addressing child trafficking in Indonesia. The method used is qualitative analysis with a descriptive research type. Data were collected through a literature review from sources such as official reports, government documents, and scientific literature. The research analysis uses Clive Archer's theory of international organizations, which emphasizes the role of an Instrument, Arena, and Independent Actor. The results show that UNICEF plays a significant role as an instrument, arena, and independent actor in supporting child protection policies, facilitating intersectoral cooperation, and advocating for and strengthening the child protection system to reduce the risk of child trafficking in Indonesia.
