Abstract
White jasmine (Jasminum sambac (L.) Aiton) is an ornamental plant with high economic value that requires the availability of uniform and high-quality seedlings. Propagation through stem cuttings often encounters constraints in root formation and early growth. This study aimed to analyze the effect of different concentrations and soaking durations of Indole-3-Butyric Acid on the early growth of white jasmine cuttings. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized factorial design with two factors, namely Indole-3-Butyric Acid concentration (0, 50, 100, and 150 parts per million) and soaking duration (30, 60, and 90 minutes). Observed parameters included time to shoot emergence, shoot length, number of leaves, number of primary roots, and root fresh weight. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance at a five percent significance level. Results indicated a significant interaction between concentration and soaking duration for all observed parameters. The combination of 100 parts per million with a soaking duration of 60 minutes produced the fastest shoot emergence (11.27 days), the highest shoot length at eight weeks after planting (11.27 centimeters), the greatest number of leaves (12.60 leaves), the highest number of primary roots (12.52 roots), and the greatest root fresh weight (1.06 grams). Treatment without growth regulator application resulted in the lowest values for most parameters. A concentration of 100 ppm with a soaking duration of 60 minutes was identified as the most effective combination to enhance the early growth of white jasmine cuttings. Application of this treatment has the potential to improve seedling quality and uniformity in supporting white jasmine cultivation. Keywords: concentration, Indole-3-Butyric Acid, soaking duration, stem cuttings, white jasmine
