Abstract
The use of mancozeb based fungicides in shallot fields to control moler disease, if not properly controlled in terms of dosage and frequency, has the potential to cause residues in the environment that negatively impact ecosystem balance and environmental health. One way to repair this damage is through bioremediation using indigenous bacteria. This study aims to determine the bacterial genera found in soil exposed to mancozeb fungicide, the ability of bacteria to grow in nutrient broth media given the fungicide, and their potential to degrade mancozeb fungicide. The research method includes taking soil samples from shallot fields exposed to mancozeb, isolating and purifying bacteria, and characterizing bacteria based on colony morphology observations and biochemical physiological tests. The ability of bacteria to degrade mancozeb was analyzed using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results obtained 5 isolates as the genus Bacillus, 7 isolates as the genus Corynebacterium, 1 isolate as the genus Lactobacillus, and 1 isolate was not identified. All isolates had the ability to grow on nutrient broth media given a concentration of 500 ppm mancozeb fungicide with the highest number of colonies being 2.34 x 1010 CFU/mL in isolate I8. All indigenous bacteria were able to degrade the concentration of mancozeb fungicide with the highest degradation percentage by bacterial isolate I8 (75%) and the lowest in isolate I7 (19%).
