Abstract

PT XYZ is a company engaged in providing spare parts for port heavy equipment. The company has problems related to inventory control that are not yet optimal, as indicated by excessive ordering of spare parts, particularly lubricating oil, which leads to increased total inventory costs. This study aims to determine an optimal lubricating oil inventory control system in order to minimize total inventory costs using the ABC-FSN method and the min-max stock method. The results of the ABC and FSN classifications indicate that two types of lubricating oil are included in the Fast-A category and are controlled using the min-max stock method. The total inventory cost using the company’s method is Rp 22,195,200, while the application of the min-max stock method results in a total inventory cost of Rp 16,936,576, resulting in a cost saving of Rp 5,258,624 or 23.69%. Based on the demand forecasting results for the period January–December 2026, the order quantity for CC-0442 oil is determined to be 1,000 liters every 8 days with a frequency of 30 orders per year, whereas CC-0444 oil is determined to be 600 liters every 9 days with a frequency of 28 orders per year, with a total inventory cost of Rp 15,416,000. It can be concluded that the min-max stock method is more effective in minimizing total inventory costs.
