Abstract

The Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem is a variant of the Vehicle Routing Problem that takes into account vehicle capacity to determine the optimal route for a number of vehicles with limited capacity to serve a number of customers from a central depot, so that the total distance traveled or distribution costs are minimized and every customer request is fulfilled. The objective of this study is to determine the optimal distribution route for delivering gym dumbbells so as to minimize the total distribution cost at PT. Eshade Indonesia Jaya. The method used in its application is the Genetic Algorithm. This study focuses on delivery using pick-up trucks at PT. Eshade Indonesia Jaya and applies the Genetic Algorithm method, which successfully reduces the total distance by 174 km with a savings percentage of 31,3% and total distribution costs of IDR 234.000 with a savings percentage of 25,3%. This shows that the Genetic Algorithm method effectively produces more efficient distances and costs compared to the approach used by the company.
