Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology in Indonesia has enabled the emergence of various phenomena in the technological sphere, including sexual violence committed both online and offline. One of the crimes arising from technological development is the unlawful dissemination of personal data (doxing), as technological progress has also become a contributing factor to the commission of personal data disclosure offenses through social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.), which can cause negative impacts on affected individuals and society at large. Consequently, the act of disclosing (spilling) the identity of an alleged perpetrator of sexual harassment on social media has the potential to violate the law. This is because the harassment is attributed to a suspected perpetrator, and there has been no court decision with permanent legal force. In light of these issues, the author considers it important to examine the regulation of doxing within Indonesian laws and regulations, as well as the legal protection afforded to victims, in order to achieve a fair legal outcome for both parties. Keywords: Sexual Violence, Doxing, Technology.
