Abstract
Community empowerment is a process of improving the capacity of individuals and groups to become economically and socially independent. One form of this effort at the village level is through Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) as economic institutions based on local potential. This study aims to describe and analyze the process of community empowerment through the BUMDes “Maju Makmur Sejahtera Global” in Sukomulyo Village, Manyar District, Gresik Regency. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation, as well as data analysis through data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that community empowerment has been implemented through four aspects, namely human development, business development, environmental development, and institutional development. Environmental and institutional development are effective through cleanliness management, waste utilization, greenhouses, and routine evaluations. However, human development and business development still face obstacles, such as low community participation, limited digital literacy, lack of business innovation, difficulty in utilizing social media, and the indiscipline of business actors in their operational commitments. Overall, BUMDes Sukomulyo plays an important role in improving the skills, income, and participation of the community, although continuous assistance is still needed.
