Abstract
The physical properties of soil are closely related to its suitability for many expected land uses. Land that is used and continuously cultivated causes the soil on that land to have different physical properties. Different soil cultivation methods can affect the physical properties of the soil. This study aims to determine the physical characteristics of soil in mixed gardens, dry fields, and rice fields in Giripurno Village. This study was conducted using a survey method and soil sampling was carried out using a purposive sampling method, resulting in 12 sample points. Soil sampling was carried out using a soil sample ring at a soil depth of between 0-30 cm and 30-60 cm for each land use. The physical characteristics of the soil that were observed were soil texture, bulk density, permeability, particle density, porosity, and aggregate stability. The data were processed and analyzed to compare the physical properties of the soil in each land use type. The results showed that the physical properties of the soil, namely mixed gardens, dry fields, and rice fields, varied. Soil texture was dominated by dusty clay to clay, permeability ranged from fast to slow, porosity was good, and aggregate stability ranged from stable to unstable. The physical properties of the soil in rice fields are poor based on the physical quality index, which is classified as poor.
