Abstract
Stem rot caused by Fusarium oxysporum is one of the major diseases affecting vanilla plants (Vanilla planifolia A.), which can cause losses of up to 100%. This study aimed to determine the effect of Fobio biopesticide solution concentration and soil sterilization interval on stem rot disease control, identify the most effective treatment combination, and assess its effect on vanilla plant growth. The study was conducted in vivo in Tukum Subvillage, Wonosalam, Jombang, from March to November 2025 using a completely randomized factorial design with two factors, namely application interval (once a week and once every two weeks) and Fobio concentration (5 ml/L, 10 ml/L, and 15 ml/L), and a control without treatment. The isolation results showed that macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of the pathogen consistent with those of F. oxysporum. Ancova analysis showed that the initial disease intensity had a highly significant effect on the final intensity. The interval factor showed a tendency to affect disease intensity, where application every 1 week resulted in a lower attack intensity (23.89%) compared to the 2-week interval (26.67%) and the control (46.66%). The highest concentration (15 ml/L) resulted in the lowest average attack intensity (24.94%). The highest infection rate was found in the control (0.069), while the lowest was found in the combination of a 1-week interval and a concentration of 15 ml/L. The highest biopesticide effectiveness was also obtained in this combination and was classified as “Moderately capable”. The treatment had no significant effect on the number of leaves, while the concentration factor had a significant effect on adventitious root growth.Overall, the application of Fobio biopesticide was able to suppress the development of vanilla stem rot disease, and the combination of a 1-week interval with a concentration of 15 ml/L was the most effective treatment in reducing disease intensity and lowering the infection rate. The results of this study indicate that soil sterilization using Fobio biopesticide has the potential to be used as an environmentally friendly control method for vanilla stem rot disease.
