Abstract

Bambara beans (Vigna subterranea L.) are a horticultural commodity from the Fabaceae family. Bambara bean production in Indonesia is still relatively low due to planting time, the lack of bambara bean varieties that cause farmers to still rely on local varieties and declining land productivity conditions. This study aims to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer doses and planting distances on the growth and yield of bambara beans (Vigna subterranea L.). This study used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors. The first factor is the NPK fertilizer dose of 200kg/ha, 300kg/ha, 400kg/ha, 500kg/ha, 600kg/ha. The second factor is the planting distance of 40 x 20 cm, 40 x 30 cm, and 40 x 40 cm. The results showed that there was an interaction between the NPK fertilizer dose of 400kg/ha and the planting distance of 40x30 cm which significantly affected the plant height at 7-9 wap, the initial flowering age, the number of flowers, the wet weight and dry weight of pods per plant and the dry weight of full pods per plant. The single treatment of NPK fertilizer dose of 400kg/ha was the best treatment for plant height at 5-6 WAP, the number of pods per plant and per hectare. The single treatment of 40 x 30 cm planting distance was the best treatment for the wet weight and dry weight of pods per plot and per hectare.
