Abstract

Jalur Lintas Selatan (JLS) LOT 3 project, which connects Serang Beach to Sumbersih in Blitar Regency, East Java, extends 4.374 km. Along this segment lies an I-Girder bridge with a length of 86.3 m and a width of 11 m, originally supported by 80-cmdiameter bored piles at Abutments 1 and 2 and Piers 1 and 2. The bored pile method, however, requires longer construction time due to the waiting period for concrete to reach its design strength, and the site is characterized by lens-shaped soil layers. For these reasons, this study redesigns the bored pile foundation into an 80-cm-diameter Prestressed Concrete (PC) spun pile foundation using the pre-boring method. Structural modeling of the bridge and abutments was conducted using SAP2000 with reference to SNI 1725:2016 to obtain internal forces as the basis for foundation capacity calculations. Single-pile bearing capacity was analyzed using the Luciano Decourt method, which considers only end-bearing resistance. The redesigned pile depths were set at 12 m for Abutment 1, 10 m for Abutment 2, 21 m for Pier 1, and 14 m for Pier 2. The analysis showed a 10.5% increase in bearing capacity due to the increased pile lengths. Under service limit load combination 2, the resulting axial force of 2,255 tons remained below the allowable group capacity of 3,287 tons. Settlement analysis using the Vesic method produced values of 5.9–8.9 cm, while PLAXIS 2D modeling resulted in 8.8–11.9 cm. All settlement values were below the allowable limit of 16.8 cm specified in SNI 8460:2017. Additionally, maximum lateral deflection was 10 mm, and the maximum bending moment reached 468.9 kN-m. Overall, the results indicate that PC spun piles with the pre-boring method meet the required criteria for bearing capacity, settlement, lateral deflection, and bending moment performance.
