Abstract
An industrial internship was carried out at PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara – PG Kremboong (3000 TCD) to analyse process integration and verify mass balances at the crystallisation (masakan) and centrifugation (puteran) stations. The study mapped the full production chain together with supporting utilities, quality control, and wastewater treatment. Operating data (Brix, purity, and density) were used to construct detailed mass balances that quantify sucrose and non-sucrose distribution among massecuite, crystal sugar, molasses, and recycle streams, enabling consistency checks on production figures and identification of potential sucrose losses. The results provide a concise diagnostic of current plant performance and a technical basis for future optimisation of crystallisation efficiency and overall factory productivity.
