Abstract

Heavy metals originating from the decomposition of waste have a negative impact on the environment, especially on soil. These pollutants can be distributed both laterally and vertically by water flow. This study aims to conduct bioremediation using macrofauna technology, namely Metaphire javanica earthworms, Eusenia fetida, and Tenebrio molitor, as well as to determine the bioaccumulation of lead (Pb) heavy metals using Metaphire javanica earthworms, Eisenia fetida, and Tenebrio molitor. This study was conducted by comparing the variation in contaminated soil weight and macrofauna weight, namely 4 kg of soil: 30 g of Metaphire javanica earthworms, 4 kg of soil: 30 g of Eisenia fetida earthworms, 4 kg of soil: 30 g of Tenebrio molitor, and 4 kg of contaminated soil (control). Observations were made for 40 days. During the study, pH, temperature, and humidity were observed daily, heavy metal concentration reduction tests were conducted every 10 days, and heavy metal concentration tests on macrofauna were conducted on the 40th day. This was done to determine the bioaccumulation factor (BAF) values in Metaphire javanica earthworms, Eisenia fetida earthworms, and Tenebrio molitor. The results showed that the removal efficiency using Metaphire javanica earthworms was 48.80%, the removal efficiency using Eisenia fetida earthworms was 67.19%, and the removal efficiency using Tenebrio molitor was 34.29%. The highest to lowest bioaccumulation factor (BAF) values were 1.8113 for Eisenia fetida earthworms, 0.8538 for Metaphire javanica earthworms, and 0.3741 for Tenebrio molitor. Keywords: Bioaccumulation Factor (BAF), Bioremediation, Earthworm Eisenia fetida, Earthworm Metaphire javanica, Heavy Metal Lead (Pb), Macrofauna, Tenebrio molitor.
