Abstract
This research aims to analyze the quality of food waste bioconversion using a combination of tofu pulp and expired bread as a substrate with BSF larvae (Hermetia Illucens) and Superworms (Zophobas morio). The research method used direct experimentation with variations in substrate composition over 12 days (BSF) and 30 days (Superworms). The results showed that the substrate combination significantly affected bioconversion performance. For BSF larvae, the best treatment was a composition of 50% tofu pulp and 50% expired bread (M5), which yielded the highest biomass growth (weight 0.3 g/individual), Specific Growth Rate (SGR) of 47.53%/day, and Efficiency of Conversion of Digested Feed (ECD) of 16.25%. For Superworms, the best treatment was 100% tofu pulp (K2) with the highest biomass growth (weight 3.62 g/individual) and larval protein content of 50.38%. The highest Waste Reduction Index (WRI) was achieved by BSF in the treatment with 60% tofu pulp and 40% bread (M4) at 7.65. The bioconversion residue (frass) from both larvae met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 19-7030-2004 for compost, except for the C/N ratio, with Superworm frass showing higher nutrient content (N, P, K). It is concluded that the combination of tofu pulp and expired bread is an effective substrate for bioconversion, with BSF excelling in waste reduction and Superworms excelling in high-protein biomass accumulation. This study recommends the M5 formulation for BSF and K2 for Superworms in an integrated organic waste management system.
