Abstract

The Internship Program (PKL) at PT Pertamina EP Asset 4 Field Sukowati, Tuban, conducted from July 1 to September 30, 2024, was designed to provide students with direct industrial experience in oil and gas production, focusing on the analysis of the Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) and supporting systems such as the oxidizer and separator within the Production & Operation function. Throughout the program, students observed production processes at the Central Processing Area (CPA), studied the specifications of key equipment including the three-phase separator, stripper, oxidizer, filter press, and gas scrubber, and carried out laboratory quality control analyses on crude oil, formation water, and absorber–oxidizer systems. The internship also involved reviewing plant utilities, waste treatment for liquid, solid, gaseous, and hazardous materials, and the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) practices through safe work permits and personal protective equipment. The results highlight that effective management of SRU and its supporting units is crucial for maintaining production quality while minimizing environmental impacts. This program provided significant benefits: students gained practical insights connecting theory to industrial practice, the company received technical input, and the university obtained valuable references for curriculum development aligned with industry needs.
