Abstract
A Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP) plant using a two-stage process with phosphoric acid and sodium carbonate as raw materials will be established in the Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE), Gresik. The production steps include dissolving sodium carbonate to 55.5%, neutralizing it with phosphoric acid at 95% conversion to form phosphate salts, spray-drying the intermediates, converting them to STPP in a rotary kiln, and homogenizing the product with a ball mill before storage and packaging. The plant will operate continuously for 330 days per year under a limited liability company structure and a line-and-staff organization. It requires 6,040.7061 kg/h of phosphoric acid and 4,627.9727 kg/h of sodium carbonate to produce 6,313.1313 kg/h of STPP and 1,825.1652 kg/h of liquid CO₂, supported by utilities including steam, electricity, water, and fuel. Economically, with a total investment of Rp888.83 billion, the project shows strong feasibility, demonstrated by a 26.94% ROI, 23.83% IRR, a three-year payback period, and a break-even point of 33.38%.
