Abstract
Farmers’ behavior refers to how farmers act, behave, and make decisions in carrying out their farming activities. This behavior consists of aspects of knowledge, attitude, and skills. These three aspects play an important and interrelated role, particularly in the optimization of agricultural machinery usage, such as hand tractors used for land cultivation. This study aims to analyze farmers’ knowledge, attitudes, and skills toward the use of hand tractors and to examine their influence on rice productivity in Wonoayu District, Sidoarjo Regency. The study involved 63 respondents selected using a non-probability sampling technique with a saturated sampling approach. The research applied quantitative descriptive analysis and SEM-PLS using SmartPLS 4 software. The results show that farmers’ knowledge and attitudes fall into the high category, while skills remain relatively low, as many farmers still rely on operators to use the hand tractor. The SEM-PLS analysis indicates that knowledge and attitude have a positive and significant influence on the use of hand tractors and rice productivity, both directly and indirectly through the mediating variable of hand tractor utilization. Meanwhile, skills have a negative and insignificant effect on hand tractor use and productivity, both directly and indirectly. Keywords: farmer behavior, knowledge, attitude, skills, hand tractor
