Abstract

Agricultural technology is one of the important breakthroughs in efforts to increase productivity. The use of drones on large areas of land can optimize the use of agricultural inputs such as labor, fertilizers, and pesticides through precise and even dosage control. The purpose of this study is to analyze the mechanism of drone use, compare the level of efficiency between user farmers, and analyze the factors that influence farmers' decisions to use drones in Tambakrejo Village, Duduksampeyan District, Gresik Regency. The location was determined using purposive sampling, while the farmer respondents were determined using two sampling techniques, namely saturated sampling for drone farmers involving 16 farmers and proportionate stratified random sampling for non-drone farmers involving 18 farmers. Data analysis methods included descriptive analysis, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), and logit model logistic regression analysis. The results of the study show that the mechanisms for using drones include 1. monitoring crop conditions; 2. preparing drones; 3. mapping land; 4. applying fertilizers and pesticides. All drone-using farmers have a VRSTE value of 1.0000 (100% efficient), which means that farmers are able to utilize inputs optimally regardless of their land size. Meanwhile, in the non-drone group, only 7 farmers achieved pure technical efficiency, while the remaining 11 farmers were still inefficient. Age, education, experience, and land area had significant values.
