Abstract

This study investigates the design and experimental performance study of a mini generator prototype based on 2007 Honda Revo engine (C Series) combined with car alternator on Colt T120SS Carburetor. The mini generator prototype was designed and tested through load simulations in SolidWorks, performance of mini generator was tested by running the prototype at different loads and engine speeds, and measuring fuel consumption. The main parameters observed include DC voltage, current generated by the alternator, current entering the inverter, AC voltage, and current entering the load. The experimental performance test was conducted by applying AC load variations of 150 W, 300 W, and 450 W, with engine speed variations ranging from 1400 RPM to 3500 RPM. The results of the mini generator prototype testing showed that for a 150 W load, the prototype was able to produce a power output of 155 W at an engine speed of 1500 - 1599 RPM, for 300 W load, it is capable of producing 285 W of power at 2000 - 2099 RPM, and for 450 W load, it is capable of producing 390 W of power at 3000 - 3099 RPM. The mini generator prototype was also subjected to load simulations and produced a minimum safety factor value of 12,06. The mini generator prototype was able to operate for 3 hours 18 minutes at 150 W load and 1 hour 22 minutes at 450 W load with 1 liter of fuel. This research provides a new overview of the mini generator combination that is capable of producing 390 W of electrical energy, future development can still be done to increase the electrical energy produced.
