Abstract
This internship report was conducted at the Human Resources Development Center for Oil and Gas (PPSDM Migas) Cepu from March 1 to March 31, 2025. The main objective was to evaluate the thermal efficiency of Furnace-02 in the refinery unit. The study applied a quantitative method through direct observation and data collection from the control room, laboratory, and field measurements. The data analyzed included fuel and crude oil flow rates, temperatures, pressures, and densities. Based on the calculations, Furnace-02 operates with an average inlet crude oil temperature of 121.8°C and outlet temperature of 315.9°C, using fuel oil as the main heat source. The analysis aimed to determine the furnace’s energy balance and evaluate heat losses to improve operational efficiency. The results indicate that optimizing combustion conditions and minimizing heat loss can enhance the furnace's overall thermal efficiency.
