Abstract

Forecasting is the art and science of predicting future events. Forecasting is crucial for research at companies, particularly PT Putra Jawamas, to facilitate the estimation of resource and service needs. Companies engaged in repair and fabrication require resources and service needs that must be prepared to maintain service stability and quality. Forecasting is a theory for predicting future events by involving historical data. This company uses forecasting to estimate future demand for heavy equipment repair services using a time series method, a subset of several methods, including single exponential smoothing, weighted moving average, and moving average. The research methods used include interviews, observation, historical data collection, and literature review related to this discussion. The results of this study indicate that the best research method, out of the weighted moving average and exponential smoothing methods, for heavy equipment repair service demand at PT Putra Jawamas is exponential smoothing with α = 0.2 and a forecast of 4 units for October 2023.
