Abstract
Foundations are a crucial part of bridge construction because foundations support loads and transfer them to solid ground. The selection of foundation type must be adapted to soil conditions and the loads it will bear. In the construction project of the Pundang Bridge STA 38+195 on the Solo–Jogja–NYIA Toll Road, bored pile foundations were used. In this study, modifications to the bored pile foundations will be performed by enlarging the pile base. This research analyzes bearing capacity using the Nakazawa method (2000) and settlement using the Vessic method (1977), utilizing the ALL PILE software for bored pile foundations with a diameter of 0.8 meters and an enlarged pile tip diameter of 1.85 meters, while the existing bored pile foundation uses a diameter of 1 meter. In modifying bored pile foundations with enlargement at the pile tip, the drilling method is also considered, taking into account soil displacement during the drilling process. The drilling method used is the wet method with the use of casing and slurry. This research is expected to be more efficient and effective in terms of the number of foundation piles used in the construction site. The results of this study show that the bearing capacity before modification was 466.31 tons at abutment 1 and 457 tons at abutment 2. Meanwhile, after modification, the bearing capacity was 689.95 tons at abutment 1 and 705.72 tons at abutment 2. The modification of bored pile foundations with enlargement at the pile tip resulted in an increase in pile bearing capacity of 48% at abutment 1 and 54% at abutment 2. The settlement of the foundation after modification using the ALL PILE software was found to be 1.14 cm at abutment 1 and 1.29 cm at abutment 2.
