Abstract
The aim of this study is to produce a map of Land Surface Temperature (LST) and analyze its relationship with rainfall in Pasuruan Regency using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Land surface temperature data were obtained through satellite imagery and processed using remote sensing software such as SeaDAS and ArcGIS. Rainfall data were acquired from a number of climatological stations dispersed throughout the area under investigation. The research results show that temperatures from Band 10 range from 5.32°C to 29.32°C, Band 11 ranges from 7.5°C to 26.52°C, and the mean land surface temperature obtained from Landsat 8imagery varies from 9.01°C to 27.7°C. In-situ temperature data indicate high surface temperatures, with an average of approximately 26.3°C and relatively mild temperature variations. The highest recorded temperature was 29.9°C, while the lowest was 22.2°C. In the regression analysis between in-situ temperature and Landsat 8 temperature, the highest R² value was found in the cubic polynomial model algorithm y = -0.0019x³ + 0.1271x² - 2.4573x + 40.026, with a value of 0.176. The resulting correlation coefficient falls within the 0.00–0.20 interval, indicating that the relationship between in-situ temperature and Landsat 8 temperature is very weak. The relationship between land surface temperature and rainfall was examined using several algorithmic models, with the selected cubic polynomial model y = -3E-09x³ + 2E-05x² - 0.0272x + 43.296 yielding a value of 0.2762. The correlation coefficient falls within the 0.20–0.40 interval, suggesting a weak relationship between rainfall and land surface temperature. This study demonstrates that GIS is effective for spatial visualization and environmental pattern analysis, and can serve as a foundation for regional development planning and more sustainable natural resource management.
