Abstract

The abundant tourism potential plays a vital role in sustainable development, thus becoming a source of regional income derived from local taxes, regional levies, and other legitimate sources. This study aims to determine the effect of the number of tourist attractions, the number of tourists, and the number of hotels on Regional Original Income (PAD) in four regencies in East Java Province, namely Banyuwangi Regency, Pasuruan Regency, Malang Regency, and Tulungagung Regency during the period 2013-2023. The approach used is quantitative, utilizing secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and related agencies. The analysis was conducted using a panel data regression method with a Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The research findings indicate that the number of tourist attractions and the number of tourists have a positive and significant relationship with PAD, while the number of hotels does not have a significant effect on PAD, due to low occupancy rates and the dominance of informal accommodation. In this case, local governments need to optimize the management of tourism potential and increase the effectiveness of hotel sector tax collection to strengthen contributions to PAD.
