Abstract

Tambak Oso Village, Waru District, is located on the east coast of Sidoarjo Regency and has significant brackishwater fishery cultivation potential. However, several problems have been identified in aquaculture activities, leading to a decline in pond production. This is thought to be due to water quality. Water quality is an important indicator because it can indicate the growth and survival of fish in the pond waters. This study aimed to assess the quality of pond water in Tambak Oso Village by testing several physical and chemical parameters based on the Water Quality Standards stipulated in the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation No. 75 of 2016. The parameters measured included temperature, pH, clarity, salinity, ammonia (NH₃), phosphate (PO4), and alkalinity. Water samples were collected from several pond locations and analyzed using standard laboratory methods. The results showed that most parameters were within permissible limits, although certain sites recorded elevated levels of ammonia and nitrite, indicating potential risks to aquatic life and the sustainability of aquaculture operations. These findings highlight the need for consistent monitoring and improved management practices to ensure optimal water quality for milkfish and tiger prawn farming in the region.
