Abstract
Chili peppers are a high-value horticultural commodity. In agricultural activities, farmers in Gekbrong Village face challenges caused by weather factors, pest attacks, and other inputs. This results in unstable chili pepper production. This study aims to 1) analyse the production factors of chili peppers, 2) analyse the level of technical efficiency in chili pepper production. The research location is Gekbrong Village, Cianjur District. The sample size is 60 respondents. Sample measurement uses random sampling. The research method employs the Cobb-Douglas Stochastic Frontier 4.1 approach. The results show that significant input factors in this study include: land area at a 1% confidence level with a negative sign. For the variables of basic fertiliser and supplementary fertiliser, the confidence level is 1%, and for pesticides, the confidence level is 5%. The insignificant variables are seeds and labour. This is because seed usage is relatively uniform, so there are no differences. Labour is insignificant due to the number of workers exceeding the required amount. The results of technical efficiency levels among chili farmers show that most farmers have achieved technical efficiency with a minimum value of 0.774 and a maximum value of 0.999. This technical efficiency level is influenced by the farmer's age, education, farming experience, and family responsibilities. The conclusion of this study is that the variables affecting chili pepper production outcomes are land area, basal fertiliser, top dressing fertiliser, and pesticides, while those that do not affect outcomes are seeds and labour. The technical efficiency level of chili pepper farmers is considered fairly optimal, with an average of 0.925. Keywords: chili pepper, efficiency, farmers, technical, production
