Abstract

The acceleration of global environmental technology has led to massive exploitation of natural resources in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The world's dependence on cobalt has triggered human rights violations and severe environmental damage. This study analyzes how the acceleration of environmental technology has posed threats to human security, such as violence, exploitation, environmental damage, health issues, and conflicts in the DRC. Data collection for this analysis utilized literature review techniques, drawing on secondary data and previous research. Through Sascha Warthes' human insecurity indicators, this study reveals the relationship between resource exploitation, conflict, and their impact on local communities. The research findings indicate that the global demand for “Green Technology,” if not managed properly, can pose a serious threat to human security in resource-rich developing countries like the DRC.
