Abstract

The use of information systems has now extended to various fields of life, especially in the world of education. The Merdeka Curriculum is a new curriculum with diverse intraschool learning. The Merdeka Curriculum for Senior High School implements elective subject selection for students in grades XI and XII. With this new policy, student data collection has become more complex. Adjusting data for class schedules and student report cards is one of the complexities that has arisen. Based on these issues, this study develops a school academic information system with features for recording students' elective subject selections in grade XI and creating class schedules using genetic algorithm methods. The reference data comes from SMA GIKI 3 Surabaya, which has already implemented the Merdeka Curriculum. The results of this study include the features of the academic information system needed by schools, such as teacher data, student data, class data, instructor data, subject data, student elective subject data, and report cards. The feature for recording students' elective subject selections makes it easier to create report cards for each student. The use of genetic algorithms as a method for creating class schedules simplifies the process, as it is efficient in terms of time and produces non-conflicting results, compared to manual scheduling, which requires more time and repeated checks.
