Abstract

The diversity of traditional Indonesian cuisine is an essential part of the nation's cultural heritage, reflecting its identity. However, amidst globalization and modern food trends, teenagers’ interest in traditional Indonesian culinary culture continues to decline. Based on surveys and interviews, it was found that adolescents aged 19–22 tend to be more familiar with and consume foreign foods rather than regional specialties. The lack of engaging educational media and limited innovative learning platforms are among the main reasons for the declining interest in local cuisine. This design project employed both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Observations and interviews were conducted with board game experts, illustrators, and figures involved in traditional cuisine, along with questionnaires distributed to the target audience to gather relevant design data. After collecting qualitative and quantitative data, the analysis was carried out using a SWOT matrix to identify the problems and determine strategies to address them. The result of this project is a board game titled "Lintas Rasa," specifically designed for late teenagers. This board game consists of a game board, pawns, fire and water cards, chili tokens, a rule book, and coins. It also features outer packaging shaped like a traditional Indonesian cracker tin to attract the attention of the target audience. This board game did not stop at the conceptual or early development stage but underwent direct testing involving the target audience—teenagers—as the main players. Through this process, the board game received valuable feedback and positive responses. It is expected that Lintas Rasa can provide an enjoyable learning experience while strengthening cultural identity among teenagers. Keyword : Board Game, Culinary Education, cultural preservation.
