Abstract
Indonesia is a country with high biodiversity, including 542 species of endemic birds. However, various factors such as habitat loss, hunting, and illegal trade have pushed many of these species into threatened status. In Java and Bali alone, 12 endemic bird species are currently listed as threatened by the IUCN. Unfortunately, education on the importance of conserving these birds remains limited, particularly among children aged 13–15. Conventional learning methods are often seen as unengaging and ineffective in fostering environmental awareness. Therefore, there is a need for innovative and interactive educational media, such as a board game designed specifically to introduce endangered endemic birds of Java and Bali. This design aims to create an educational board game that conveys critical information through engaging visuals and enjoyable gameplay to foster a sense of care and deeper understanding of bird conservation among young generations. The research employs both qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative data were obtained through observation and interviews, while quantitative data were gathered via questionnaires distributed to junior high school students aged 13–15. The board game is designed as an interactive educational tool to help students recognize endangered endemic birds in Java and Bali. Through a problem-solving approach and engaging visual elements, the game encourages players to understand the threats faced by these birds and the importance of conservation in a fun, collaborative way. Based on analysis and exploration, the creative concept is “Fun Endemic Bird Education” for children aged 13–15. This concept is realized in the form of a board game titled “Kuk-Kuk! Ini Rumahku”, which combines strategies for rescuing and preserving the habitats of endemic birds in Java and Bali. By introducing players to bird species, their habitats, and the threats they face, this design aims to serve as a fun and effective educational medium. Keywords: board game, endemic birds, education
