Abstract
Accurate parameter settings in CNC Flame Cutting processes play a crucial role in determining the quality of the cutting results. In industrial applications, surface roughness and dimensional accuracy are key quality indicators that receive significant attention. Excessive surface roughness can hinder plate joining and reduce joint quality, while dimensional inaccuracy may affect cost efficiency and machining time. Therefore, companies place strong emphasis on achieving optimal and consistent cutting quality in their production processes. This study aims to analyze the influence of CNC Flame Cutting machine parameters on the cutting quality of SS400 steel using the Taguchi method. The investigated parameters include cutting speed, gas pressure, and oxygen pressure. The experiment was designed using an L9 (3³) orthogonal array, and the results were analyzed using Signal-to-Noise (S/N) ratios and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The findings indicate that the optimal parameter combination to minimize dimensional inaccuracy is a cutting speed of 312 mm/min, gas pressure of 4 bar, and oxygen pressure of 6 bar. Meanwhile, to reduce surface roughness, the best combination is a cutting speed of 431 mm/min, gas pressure of 5 bar, and oxygen pressure of 5 bar. Gas pressure is the most dominant factor influencing the cutting results in terms of dimensional inaccuracy and surface roughness
