Abstract
Inventory is a crucial element in the operation of a company, especially for PT PLN Nusantara Power UP Tanjung Awar Awar, acting as a strategic entity in the electricity generation sector in Indonesia. The sustainability of electrical energy supply depends on the reliability of machines and spare parts, so effective inventory management is a vital element. One of the major challenges faced was inefficiency in spare parts procurement leading to overstock or stockouts ranging from around 10% to 20% which could disrupt plant operations. To overcome this problem, an inventory control strategy based on the Min-Max Stock and Continuous Review methods is applied, which aims to harmonize inventory costs and identify schemes with more optimal total inventory costs, including ordering costs and storage costs. In addition, this study provides recommendations for mitigating downtime risks to improve the effectiveness of spare parts management in the power generation industry. Based on the analysis results, the Min-Max Stock method results in a total inventory cost of Rp 480,838,690, while the Continuous Review method shows a higher total cost of Rp 555,542,213. Thus, the application of the Min-Max Stock method provides significant financial efficiency, with savings reaching Rp 159,961,310 or about 25%. This advantage confirms that the Min-Max Stock approach is a better strategy.
